What is psychotherapy for?
Sometimes it is not possible to "pull yourself together", or "just get on with it" and it is at these times that psychotherapy and counselling can help.
I see therapy as a space where you can explore the things that hold you back, in a patient, respectful and safe environment. This exploration takes place through talking and listening. When words are too difficult to find, using art materials may help.
Some of the reasons why people come for psychotherapy include
depression
loss of any kind including bereavement or infertility
the effects of childhood trauma or abuse
a time of transition or change
to understand themselves better
...and many other reasons.
